This year, we are inviting you to “architecture in the foyer” for a fourth time. Experience the extraordinary projects of established and up-and-coming award winners of the Design Educates Awards (DEA) and renowned international speakers.

Day 1: Design Educates Awards

22nd Sep. 2022 · From 16:00 (CET)

Architecture and design can be inspiring and educational. They can change our thoughts, feelings and even our actions. The Design Educates competition is based on this hypothesis. The winning designs are those that provide additional value beyond aesthetics and function. Social and sustainability aspects, in particular, are at the forefront. This year, many projects draw on the themes of sharing knowledge, fostering community, low-tech solutions, traditional know-how and local resources, as well as state-of-the-art digital tools and AI.

Day 2: inSights

23rd Sep. 2022 · From 12:00 (CET)

The international presentation series “architecture in the foyer” is dedicated to authentic insights from architects. Their philosophy and projects are the central focus of the day. Once again, we have acquired renowned speakers from Europe and overseas. However different their backgrounds, work styles, focal points and attitudes to architectural issues may be, they have a lot in common because they don’t think of architecture in isolation, but within the larger and smaller context. They put people at the centre and create useful, empowering and motivating buildings with added value. Accordingly, the day follows on seamlessly from the Design Educates Awards. We look forward to lots of in-person impressions, encounters and faces.

UK RIBA Members CPD obligations

All RIBA Chartered Members are required to undertake and record 35 hours CPD each year, 15 hours of these hours can be any relevant learning activity, whether structured or informal. Architecture in the foyer is an excellent CPD choice for expanding your knowledge and gain authentic insights from renowned international speakers about their philosophy and projects. CPD doesn’t have to come from, be accredited by, or approved by the RIBA to count. If you think that a learning activity is relevant to you for whatever role you are doing, then it counts as CPD.

Programme Transparency
Ever since it was founded almost 40 years ago, Solarlux has devoted itself to the design and functional interpretation of the area that serves as a transition between the inside of a building and the great outdoors. From an architectural perspective, this passion has taken the form of cultivating how we work with natural light, or transparency, as a design element in our architecture. And when it comes to solutions, we also focus on the functional development of a building using “building components” and meticulous attention to detail when designing our products.

Solarlux’s product portfolio for applications in property and high-end flat construction ranges from bi-folding door and horizontal sliding door systems to glass canopies, wintergardens, balcony glazing, and even large-format “cero” sliding elements with panel sizes of up to 15 m². During the planning process and implementation, Solarlux’s various in-house Service departments and installation teams are on-hand to assist our partners, builder-owners, investors and architects. Solarlux systems can be found in sophisticated architecture the world over.
